A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor delivers fast, smooth, nearly silent autofocus with full-time manual override, and the constant f/2.8 aperture holds steady performance throughout the entire zoom range. Like other L-series lenses, it's sealed against dust and moisture, with a fluorine coating on the front element that resists fingerprints and smudges and makes cleaning easier.
