Tiffen Filtro ProMist 1/4 82mm

This Tiffen 82mm Pro-Mist 1/4 filter softens harsh highlights and lowers overall contrast for a gentler, more filmic image. It's a favorite for smoothing out skin texture and facial wrinkles, which makes it just as useful in beauty and fashion shoots as it is on a film set.

The 1/4 density sits in the middle of the Pro-Mist range: it pulls back more contrast and highlight intensity than the 1/8 grade, while staying a step lighter than the 1/2. Like other Pro-Mist filters, it keeps image detail largely intact rather than blurring it away like a traditional diffusion filter. Built with Tiffen's ColorCore process, the filter material is laminated between two pieces of optical glass, ground flat to within 1/10,000th of an inch, and set into a precision metal ring.
